At the halfway point I would like to pause and thank all those who have taken the time out of their day to read along. Often the writing is rushed and perhaps of limited interest so I appreciate your tolerance. Especially I would like to thank and express my gratitude to those of you who have donated to Escuela Verde so far. 100% of your contributions go to the operation of the school and any donation, however small, helps.
Normally, on a hike or trip I would not keep a journal. And to be honest the time investment required by this blog has been a pain and something at times I’d rather not do. But the cause is greater than myself, so I put my pen to it and hike a few less miles. Escuela Verde is really doing good work in this world. Please support this work if you can. My appreciation to you. Now let’s get to the second act.

I have so enjoyed you journey to date. I started following you about 1 month ago… so very jealous as I want to some day be where you are… keep going..m you are making a lot of folks happy as they follow you.
Flattered that you are enjoying the journal. I figure that everybody is just a few decisions away from taking a long hike. Hope you get to make those decisions someday. Thanks for following along.
No, thank YOU for bringing to us desk-bound/house-bound/grocery store bound multitudes a little vicarious release every once in awhile. Someone has to do it; take one for the team so to speak. Might as well have been you.
And, gosh, thanks for the vivid description of your dinner on day 73 and the inevitable resulting expurgation. I was thinking about making French toast this morning – or as the Tea Party calls it ‘Freedom Toast’ (some sort of reference to Lafayette saving Washington’s ass at Yorktown, effectively smashing England’s efforts in the Rev War and subsequent freedom from King George, I suppose). Anyhoo – after reading that, I think I’ll just make a milkshake with Maalox and Kaopectate.
Pursuant to my non-binding commitment to make a 3 part pledge to E. Verde, 2nd installment to be henceforth rendered momentarily in recognition of Halfway Mark. Final installment subject to verification of Finish Line confirmation.

Hey Jeffrey, cheers for your support of the school. It’s over-the-top but of course that is your style. Also enjoyed how you tied my constitution in to your interpretation of history and its influence over your daily life. You must’ve been educated in a very fine university. I’ll keep walking if you keep writing in. Say hi to the pope for me if you bump into him.
P.s. I love love love the nickname! Bout time you found one that fits.
Oh, Steve has had several nicknames over the years. However, due to the family-oriented nature of this journal, decorum prohibits me from making these public.
Let’s avoid rehashing historical events that are best left buried.
Last is fine for the trail. But you can stick with big brother.
